Safeguarding policy



Elena Mitreva Ballet School is fully committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people up to the age of 18. We recognise our responsibilities to take all reasonable steps to promote safe practice and to protect children from harm, abuse and exploitation.

Elena Mitreva Ballet School acknowledges its duty to act appropriately to any allegations, reports or suspicion of abuse. All staff and volunteers will work together to encourage the development of an ethos which embraces difference, diversity and respects the rights of children, young people and adults.

Elena Mitreva Ballet School recognises its duty of care under the Children and Young Persons Act 1963, the Children (Performance and Activities) (England) Regulation 2014, the Children Act 1989 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015.

The policy recognises that the welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, ability or disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, socio-economic background, all children

Elena Mitreva Ballet School acknowledges that some children, including disabled children, young people or those from ethnic minority communities, can be particularly vulnerable to abuse and we accept the responsibility to take reasonable and appropriate steps to ensure their welfare.

The policy and procedures will be widely promoted and are mandatory for everyone involved in Elena Mitreva Ballet School. Failure to comply with the policy and procedures will be addressed without delay and may ultimately result in dismissal/exclusion from the school.


Elena Mitreva Ballet School has a Designated Safeguarding Lead who is in charge of ensuring that the child protection policy is adhered to. The DSL is Elena Mitreva and she can be contacted on 07398 171177.

This policy will be regularly monitored by Elena Mitreva and will be subjected to an annual review.
