We have been providing ballet and dance classes in Ealing since 2016, and we are truly impressed with our children’s talent and potential. Your children’s eagerness inspires us to work hard to make our classes engaging, fun, and effective. Most of the children flourish and show remarkable progress, making us incredibly proud. We wish for every child to grow in their abilities and talents.
However, we must admit that we are a little concerned about some students frequently arriving late. We understand that this is often beyond their control, but as a result, they miss key parts of the lesson.
Today, we would like to draw parents’ attention to a few crucial elements of the lesson and explain the consequences of arriving late to class.
Building Responsibility Through Ballet and Dance Classes
Every ballet class begins with a ballet curtsey. This short exercise is an expression of politeness and respect between students and teachers. Small acts of carelessness can lead to larger ones, and in ballet training, discipline is essential.
Missing Key Technical Foundations
For very young children, those few “curtsey seconds” are often the only moment when they properly place their feet in a ballet position. As the class progresses, other elements take priority—such as learning movement sequences, coordination, and listening to explanations.
In general, when dancing, children must focus on:
-
Listening to the music
-
Remembering the order of steps
-
Maintaining correct movement directions
-
Knowing which leg to start with
-
Expressing emotions
-
Keeping their spot in formations
-
Correct head and arm positions
-
Proper foot placement
Standing correctly in a ballet position takes time. In many ballet schools, children spend hours practicing posture and learning to hold their skirts beautifully. At our school, we understand that young children have much more to learn beyond just standing correctly. That’s why, in addition to technique, we teach them how to use the stage, interact with a partner, express emotions, and build confidence.
A Gentle Reminder to Parents
Dear parents, we know that life can get busy, but before deciding whether to be late or not, please consider the importance of these early moments in class. Arriving on time allows your child to fully experience and benefit from every lesson.
We truly appreciate your support in ensuring your child arrives on time, allowing them to fully benefit from our ballet and dance classes in Ealing and continue their wonderful progress.
